Chapter 138 : Spirit Cannon

Chapter 138 : Spirit Cannon

It had been three days since Su Yen opened the Spirit Train to the public. Like a new invention, many people had tried to use the Spirit Train as much as possible.

Similar to a new toy, the more you used it, the less thrilling it became, and it eventually became a routine part of everyday life. That was what happened to the citizens of Cloudweaver and those who came from other towns and cities to check it out.

After three days, the excitement of riding the Spirit Train had dwindled significantly. Only those who hadn't seen it or needed it for daily commutes still used it.

Slowly, the barren land returned to its usual activities. However, the construction of the Spirit Tracks was in full swing within and outside the cities and towns. Although they lacked heavy machinery to aid in tunnel excavation, they were not lacking in force as cultivators. With thousands of people working together, the Spirit Track construction was progressing at a breathtaking speed.

Meanwhile, Su Yen and the Celestial Heavenly Sect were busy with another project entirely. Inside the construction hall, Su Yen monitored Elder Mei as she inscribed runes onto a metallic object that, if seen by any earthling, would be recognized as a cannon. Su Yen was not taking it easy, now that he had acquired Spirit Artifact Engineering.

His current target was weaponry, beginning with the cannon, which he referred to as a Spirit Cannon.

After a few more minutes, Elder Mei finally finished inscribing the cannon runes. "I'm done," she said, wiping the beads of sweat from her forehead.

Su Yen didn't say a word and furrowed his brow, checking the runes for any mistakes. After a couple of seconds, he nodded and said, "Well done."

The Spirit Cannon had two slots apart from the trigger formation: the Bullet Chamber and the Spirit Stone Chamber. The Bullet Chamber was further divided into two types: the ordinary bullet made from standard metal and the thunder bullet made from grade-1 metal, capable of withstanding more power from the spirit stone.

The Spirit Stone Chamber served as an energy storage that could hold one hundred spirit stones.

"Let's take it for testing," he said to Elder Jie and his elder brother.

In another part of the Dreadshade Forest, Su Yen and the elders dismounted from the back of Blue Wing. They observed the eerie, quiet forest, and all the elders had goosebumps. They swallowed hard as they realized that the Dreadshade Forest was more dangerous and vast than they had initially believed.

The area where they stood had yet to be explored by humans, and the continuous sounds of beasts resonated from within. They looked at Su Yen, waiting for his orders.

"Who will be the bait?" Su Yen asked, looking at three individuals beside him.

Su Ming was close to the Foundation Building realm, while Elder Jie was at the peak of Qi Refinement stage 9. The last person, Elder Mei, was at the peak of Qi Refinement stage 8.

"Fine," Elder Mei sighed and rushed into the forest with a terrified expression on her face. Observing her from behind, Su Yen turned to his brother and said, "Elder brother, come and do the honors."

He waved his hand, and the Spirit Cannon materialized from his storage ring. Su Ming didn't hesitate and took his position behind the Spirit Cannon.

The forest was deathly silent, only the howls of beasts coming from deep within the woods. The trio waited patiently, gazing in the direction that Elder Mei had ventured.

Suddenly, they heard a wretched cry emanating from the forest, followed by the sounds of leaves rustling and heavy footsteps. The sounds were getting closer, and the atmosphere became tense.

Elder Mei darted out of the forest covered in blood and with a deep cut on her thigh, but she didn't seem to care. Behind her, a massive beast appeared—the Volatile Guardian Hound, a grade-2 creature.

The ferocious hound leaped out of the forest with its mouth wide open, ready to tear its prey to pieces. However, what it found were three more humans. Su Ming had been waiting for his target and pressed the trigger of the Spirit Cannon without hesitation.

The Spirit Cannon roared to life, and the power indicator moved from green to yellow. When it reached the yellow section, Su Ming released his finger.

The ordinary bullet shot out of the Spirit Cannon with such force that even Su Yen, with his spirit sense, couldn't capture the bullet's speed.

The bullet struck the hound, which was still airborne, squarely in the head.

The hound's head shattered, blood splattering on Su Yen and the others. Despite the gruesome sight, none of them cared, as they watched the hound crash lifelessly to the ground.

With their jaws dropping in astonishment, they realized this was not just a powerful weapon; it was a formidable killing machine.

They look at Su Yen in daze, not knowing where such idea and knowledge was coming.

Elder Jie said off handedly."I'll love to open your brain and see what is in there but I can't." He sighed.

As for elder Mei, she was only shock momentary before a bright smile plastered on her face. 'Wow! I'm part of the team that made such a killing machine.' She exclaimed in her mind.

Su Ming only shook his head as he was numb to his younger brother extraordinary talent.

While Su Yen didn't care about their stunned expression and looked at his elder brother, "Now, let's test the thunder bullet."

"What?!"

Everyone was initially shocked but quickly broke into grins. Since Elder Mei had managed to lure a grade-2 beast, Su Ming must be at a higher level.

Su Ming shrugged and asked, "What grade?"

"Peak grade-2... I'd like to test it on a grade-3 beast, but you wouldn't last a second against those." Su Yen replied casually.

Su Ming rolled his eyes at his younger brother and darted into the forest.
