Chapter 776: Chapter 776: Sending You to Hell
The door to the third underground floor opened, and a heavy smell of blood wafted out. Caleb Mamet walked in with long strides.
Still wearing his light-colored suit, the elegant and prestigious gentleman appeared in the dark and damp underground prison. He looked indifferently at the man chained by his hands and feet, “I didn’t expect Boyd Drew’s subordinate to be so tough.”
The man lay on the ground, his body covered in blood, laughing hysterically, “Just kill me! There’s no way I’m going to tell you a thing! You vicious bastard, you’ll end up in hell sooner or later!”
Caleb snorted. He never bothered to pretend in front of outsiders, only acting gentle in front of Mrs. Mamet. Had his recent displays of gentleness made others forget his once ruthless methods?
He lazily sat down on a chair, his eyes cold as he stared at the man. His thin lips parted slightly, “You don’t actually think you’re important to me, do you? So important that I wouldn’t kill you?”
The man on the ground stiffened, his eyes filled with terror. Then, he erupted in a frantic roar.
Caleb’s expression remained calm, not reacting to the roar. He spoke unhurriedly, “Do you think Boyd Drew knows about the pain you’ve endured?”
The man lay on the ground, his body convulsing violently, “Aah…!!”
“I just want to know the truth behind Madam Winni Drew’s death all those years ago. If you don’t want to talk, that’s fine. I’ll find out someday anyway.” Caleb’s voice was indifferent as if discussing a trivial matter.
“Since you’re not willing to cooperate, I guess I’ll have to send you to hell!”
The man lifted his eyes to meet Caleb’s cold gaze, knowing that he was about to face death. He let out a hysterical roar, his voice echoing through the entire dungeon.
Caleb knew the man wouldn’t say anything else and gradually lost patience. He turned to leave.
Suddenly, the man laughed sinisterly, “Caleb! I’ve taken lives, so I deserve to go to hell! But what about you? Do you think you’re a good person? When you die, you’re going to suffer even more than me! You’ll get your comeuppance someday!”
Upon hearing this, Sean Price shuddered and wanted to step forward to cover the man’s mouth.
But Caleb waved his hand calmly, “Let him talk.”
“Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve done! You set Boyd Drew up, making the Drew family decline bit by bit under his watch. You’re a sly and cunning villain!” The man shouted, “I don’t know how long I’ve been locked in this dark dungeon by you, tortured until I’m half-dead. There must be others here who’ve suffered inhuman torment just like me! You’re responsible for so many lives…”
He paused before suddenly bursting into laughter, “You’re ruthless and vicious, but you have such a handsome face that was enough to deceive Mrs. Mamet, making her believe you’re a gentle man. What a pity! Your true colors will be exposed eventually. What do you think her reaction will be when she learns the truth?”
Caleb pressed his lips together, his eyes deep and his expression unchanged. The next moment, the man’s mockery intensified.
“Your tender Mrs. Mamet has no idea how vicious a man you are. When that delicate woman learns the truth, will she break down and stay away from you out of fear? Or will she depart this world just like Miss Drew? Hahaha…”
Caleb: “…” Was this all that Boyd Drew’s subordinate could say?
He glanced at Sean Price, thinking that this man was trying to provoke him in such a childish way.
These people clearly didn’t understand Mrs. Mamet well enough. Beneath her delicate exterior was a heart just as resilient as his own – what did she have to be afraid of?
…
That evening, Elijah Flack and Quine Heninger paid a visit.
The housekeeper and Steve Price were curious about Quine. The Lingo Pavilion Master was just as aloof and gorgeous as the rumors said, with light gray eyes that looked like those of a prince from a foreign land.
The two hurried over respectfully, “Mister Flack, Mr. Heninger, welcome! Please, have a seat. Mrs. Mamet is still upstairs, she’ll be down in just a moment.”
It wasn’t long before Xaviera Evans hurried down the stairs like a butterfly, “Big brother! Second brother!”
Quine and Elijah’s mouths twitched slightly. Wasn’t Xaviera supposed to be acting fragile? Which fragile girl would just fly down the stairs like that?
Elijah’s eyes were full of gentleness as he looked at her, “Xaviera, did Tracy Swift give you trouble again today?”
