Chapter 783: Chapter 783: Late Affection is Worthless
“Not wanting to be seen, Grace Ziegler chose a remote square in the western part of Serene City for the meeting.
The location Grace picked was deliberate, it was an ordinary clay pot noodle shop.
She arrived first, with Isaac Mitchell coming in later.
Moreover, she was already having her clay pot noodles, concealing her true intentions. It was Isaac who sat directly across from her engaging in conversation upon his arrival.
From an outsider’s perspective, it seemed as if Isaac was persistently pursuing her.
As Isaac spoke, Grace maintained a cold and unresponsive demeanor, as if she didn’t want to deal with him.
Isaac didn’t take this to heart. He came to Serene City to reconcile with Grace, and was in the process of apologizing to her.
Grace looked up at Isaac and scoffed sarcastically, “Did things not work out with that heiress? Or did she get tired of you? What made you think of me?”
Isaac looked lovingly at Grace, saying softly, “She seduced me. I was foolish to be entranced by her. Grace, you’re the only one I’ve ever truly cared for. Give me another chance. Let’s start over.”
Sweet words delivered too late – worthless as grass underfoot!
Besides, if you could trust men’s sweet talk, pigs might fly.
She will never forgive, nor forget, the hurt Isaac has caused her.
Though she looked down on Isaac inwardly, Grace did not reject him outright. Instead, she lowered her head and continued eating noodles.
She had to make good use of Isaac who had presented himself before her.
There was absolutely no chance between them. She wouldn’t be foolish enough to get back together with such a scumbag.
The only reason she agreed to meet was to use him for her own benefit. As for reconciliation, there was no chance.
As Grace quietly ate her noodles, Isaac confessed his feelings. Yet, Grace’s expression remained unchanged, coolly unemotional.
After finishing her noodles, Grace paid for herself and left the noodle shop without saying a word to Isaac.
Seeing this, Isaac quickly paid and chased after her, grabbing hold of her.
Suddenly, Grace brushed Isaac off angrily, stared at him coldly, and warned him, “Don’t harass me. I won’t give you a second chance to hurt me. What was between us, it’s over.”
“Grace, I really realize my mistakes. I’ve quit my job and I’ve come to Serene City to start our own business.”
“Let’s not meet again, you’ve got nothing to do with me. If you continue to harass me, I’ll call the police. I’m sure you remember the man who helped me. If you dare to mess this up, I dare say, he won’t let you off the hook.”
Suddenly, Isaac let go of her hand, “Grace, I’ll give you time to think things over. I understand that my sudden appearance might have startled you, leaving you unprepared. Next time, let’s talk some more.”
Grace did not outrightly reject him. She just turned around and walked away.
Isaac believed that Grace just needed some time to accept him and that she would give him another chance. So, he was already thinking about their next meeting.
…
Daniel Marshall came home first. Auntie Jane said, “Sir, there’s a package for you. It was delivered right to the villa’s doorstep.”
“I see, will Madame be home for dinner?”
“Yes, she will. I’ve prepared some soup for you two.”
Daniel didn’t respond, and Auntie Jane returned to the kitchen.
Daniel took the package to his study and opened it.
As soon as he saw the contents, Daniel quickly closed the box.
In that moment, Daniel felt a wave of nausea. The visual impact made him incredibly uncomfortable.
Daniel’s face turned a bit pale, and he immediately dialed Lily Lee’s number.
