Chapter 34: The Youthful Zhang Sanfeng Appears!
Pu Zhi unleashed a wave of overwhelming energy from his outstretched palm.
A radiant white energy hand materialized mid-air, vibrating with immense pressure as it surged toward Zhang Cuishan.
“You dare!”
“Stop!”
The sudden assault by Pu Zhi shocked everyone present. Yet, the Wudang disciples quickly gathered their composure.
“Boom!”
“Boom!”
The combined auras of six Heavenly Phenomenon Grandmasters erupted like a tempest, shattering the ground beneath them.
“Wudang Cotton Palm!”
“Ten Thousand Peaks Bowing!”
“Wudang Pure Yang Fist!”
Each of the six unleashed their most powerful techniques, converging their attacks on Pu Zhi’s radiant hand.
“Boom!”
The energy hand disintegrated, sending chaotic bursts of true energy in every direction.
Nearby martial artists were thrown into the air, many sustaining severe injuries. The Wudang disciples themselves staggered backwards under the impact. Even Mo Shenggu, the weakest among them, coughed up blood, his face pale.
Despite their combined efforts, it was evident that even six Heavenly Phenomenon Grandmasters working in unison struggled against the sheer power of a Land Immortal.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………..
“Impressive! As expected of Zhang Sanfeng’s disciples,” Pu Zhi remarked, a flicker of surprise crossing his face.
He had not used his full strength in the earlier attack, but the fact that the Wudang disciples could nullify his blow was unexpected.
“However,” Pu Zhi continued, his eyes flashing with a concealed killing intent, “while I hold no malice toward Fifth Hero Zhang, I cannot stand idly by while the villain Xie Xun wreaks havoc upon Jianghu. This evil must be eradicated.”
The humiliation of having his attack repelled in front of so many people stung deeply. Though he refrained from lethal action against the Wudang disciples, he resolved to teach them a harsh lesson.
Summoning the full force of his true energy, Pu Zhi prepared to unleash his true strength.
“Hmph!”
An angry voice echoed across the heavens, halting Pu Zhi in his tracks.
The air seemed to tremble as the world’s energies converged, bearing down upon Pu Zhi with an unfathomable weight.
Pu Zhi felt his true energy turn wild and uncontrollable, rebelling against him.
“Urgh!”
In mere moments, he spat a mouthful of blood as his body plummeted to the ground, crashing into a large tree with a resounding thud.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………..
The sudden turn of events left the crowd stunned.
One moment, Pu Zhi had exuded an aura of invincibility. The next, he lay battered like a fallen dog.
Who could possibly possess such power—capable of incapacitating a Land Immortal with a single snort of disdain?
……………………………………………………………………………………………………..
“Shishu!”
“Shishu!”
The Shaolin disciples rushed to Pu Zhi’s side, their faces etched with concern.
“I... I’m fine,” Pu Zhi muttered, shakily rising to his feet. His pallor and unsteady posture, however, told a different story.
“Who are you?” he demanded, shaking off Abbot Kongwen’s attempt to steady him.
Pu Zhi’s injuries were severe. His turbulent energy would take at least a decade to fully recover.
As a late-stage Land Immortal, Pu Zhi had prided himself on his strength. Even against Zhang Sanfeng, he had believed himself capable of offering significant resistance.
Yet now, a mere sound had left him utterly incapacitated. The implications were staggering.
The martial artists present, from the Emei to the Huashan sect, began to whisper among themselves.
“Could it be Zhang Sanfeng?” Yin Liting wondered aloud, his brows furrowed.
“No,” he quickly corrected himself. “That’s not possible.”
Though Yin Liting was intimately familiar with his master’s voice after decades of discipleship, the commanding tone they had just heard lacked any sign of age. Instead, it carried the vigour of a young man.
“Why so surprised?” the voice rang out again. “Weren’t you here to celebrate my birthday? We’ve known each other for decades, and yet you fail to recognize me?”
From the sky descended a youthful figure, appearing no older than twenty.
“Zhang Sanfeng?”
“No! Impossible!”
“How could you have reverted to your youth?”
Pu Zhi’s voice trembled as he stared in disbelief.
Though over a century and a half old, Pu Zhi vividly remembered Zhang Sanfeng’s appearance as a young man. The figure before him was identical to that memory.
