Chapter 84 Hobgoblin level 98 (1)
The people were immediately shaken out of their daze as they heard Xander's words. He was laughing and petting his...
'What the hell is that?! A snake with legs? A large lizard?' The old man was confused at the creature that was in Xander's grasp.
Currently the wings on the back of Seraph were very small and unusable so it was easy to not relate him to a dragon.
"We're adventurers for our city and we have a small camp not far away from here. You can stay with us for a while, we're about to head to the city soon."
Xander noticed that as soon as the man said that the young people behind him flinched as if they were afraid of his words... or what his words was referring to.
"I'm actually looking for some people. A guy and a lady traveling together... I think." Xander was unsure.
The people he was referring to was naturally Harry and Hannah... the 'H' friends.
The man put a finger on his chin as he fell into deep thought. After a while his eyes widened and he looked back at Xander.
"The boy was taller than the girl?"
"Ah. Yes."
The old man smiled, "They went to Arzon city where we're from."
Xander sighed tiredly.
'I thought I was going to have to look for them but it looks like help came my way.' Xander thought.
"Let's go."
The camp wasn't too far as they said and it took only thirty minutes to get there. There were two tents, a small one and a big one which looked handmade with animal skin and in front of them was a bunch of fire wood which were arranged in an orderly manner.
Xander gazed deeper into the forest as he wondered. 'I wonder how far is the edge of the mountain.'
No matter how hard he looked he couldn't see it.
'I'll look at it in the night when I can see better.' He finally sat down in front of the fire wood while looking at it.
Sitting down there alone reminded him of the time he, Sandra and Harry were trapped inside the cave of Serebus and they camped.
They joked, laughed... but that was in the past.
'I'm no hero. I just want to get my life back.' Xander thought.
The rest of the team of five were either walking around or just sitting down.
Gary suddenly looked at Hex and before looking towards the forest.
He's shook his head, declining Gary's request to follow him.
"Two minutes." Gary mumbled. "This wood is so little, I'll go get some more!"
This time he made his voice loud enough to reach Xander's ears.
Gary walked for Miles away before stopping and waiting. After a few minutes Hex approached the place and Gary immediately bombarded him with questions.
"Why didn't you tell him about the goblin?"
"Keep quiet boy." Hex smacked Gary on the head. "If I do it'll look like we just want to use him. If we travel down the mountain and we encounter the Goblin it would just look like that... an unfortunate encounter. Then if we show him hospitality he would help us get off this mountain."
Gary was dumbfounded. He didn't think that far and was just feeling bad that they didn't tell the strong man about the danger on the path down the mountain.
"Wow. You really thought far about this."
"Why would I be the leader of this team if not?" Hex said proudly. "Now get those wood you came here for and come back early."
'That was just an excuse.' Gary had a bitter smile on his face.
After a while Hex came back to the fire place, his black staff still in his hand and just sat down around the fire next to Xander.
"So. How did you end up in the mountains?"
"Hm?" Xander looked at the person beside him and saw Hex.
"I guess I got lost in thought."
"Actually, I was kidnapped by weird werewolf creatures." He sighed. "Then I was in this scary cave filled with monsters. And then I escaped... and then I came out... and then I'm here."
Hearing his words Hex was confused as his mind immediately went to all directions.
"The dragon cave!"
Xander and Hex looked up to see Henry staring at them as if he had just seen a ghost.
Hex was confused at first but then his eyes widened as he looked at Xander and shouted in shock, "You escaped the dragon cave?!"
Xander put a finger in his ear as the old man's voice was amplified.
"Yeah. That's where I found this little guy." Xander said as he looked at Seraph who was sound asleep in his arms.
"Is it that much of a big deal?" Xander asked in confusion.
Hex and Henry along with Gary and the two girls surrounded the fire. They had a new found respect for Xander as they heard that he escaped the dragon's cave.
"The dragon's cave is said to be a place with traps and thousands of monsters. A warrior can challenge the cave once in a while. A person only has to touch particular things in particular to trigger the challenges." Hex took a quick break as he breathed heavily... and then he continued. "It is said that there are treasures and magical artifacts within the cave that can boost one's strength by a couple times."
As Hex said that and stopped to breathe again Henry spoke up:
"Thousands upon thousands of warriors have challenged the cave but none have come out alive... some wasn't even confirmed dead and just went in, never to be seen again."
Xander naturally didn't think too much about it but when they mentioned artifacts that boost strength his mind immediately went to the items he got within the cave.
'So I got four... is it four? Dragonscale, ring of knight, Bringer of death and what else... the baby dragon. That's four.' Xander noted.
"So did you get any?" Hex asked as of then stared at him as if he was some kind of golden fish.
"Yeah. I got a few things, including the spear I took back from him." Xander said as he pointed Gary.
