Chapter 560  Just a fraction

The devil reacted to Brontes with equal ferocity, disregarding the fog, thunder and lightning that now encompassed the entire area. Its claws swiped downward, carving through the air and creating arcs of black energy that split the space around them. When the two titanic forces collided, the impact was catastrophic. A thunderclap echoed across the landscape as lightning and shadow exploded outward, uprooting trees and leaving deep scars in the earth.

Alex, slumped against a shattered tree trunk, shielded his face from the ensuing shockwave. Dust and debris clouded his vision, but he could feel the titanic struggle unfolding through the bond he shared with Brontes. The raw power of their clash was staggering, and Alex could only watch, his body too drained to intervene. In fact the sheer level of power that he saw before him was more than enough to deter him from even thinking of doing so. He was simply too weak to intervene in a battle of this scale.

The devil recoiled, its chest smoking where Brontes' horns had struck. Black blood oozed from the wound, sizzling as it hit the ground. Yet the creature laughed once more, a deep, bone-chilling sound that reverberated through the clearing. This seemed to become a recurring theme with this devil.

"You strike hard, beast." It growled, narrowing its devilish eyes. "But it will take more than brute force to end me."

Brontes moved with the grace of a predator, dodging and weaving through the onslaught despite his size. When a particularly large tendril lunged for him, he countered with a powerful swipe of his claws, slicing through the shadow with a blade of electrified wind. The tendril disintegrated with a hiss, but the devil used the distraction to close the distance.

The devil's claws came down in a brutal arc, aiming for Brontes' neck. Brontes twisted his body, the attack grazing his mane of storm clouds and releasing a burst of dark energy. Growling, he retaliated with a blast of lightning from his mouth. The bolt struck the devil square in the chest, sending it flying backward and leaving a smoldering crater where it had stood.

The devil staggered to its feet, its body steaming and charred. Its snarl deepened, and its aura flared with renewed intensity. "You think you're the storm? I am the void that swallows it whole!"

The clearing darkened further as the devil unleashed its power. The shadows around it coalesced into a massive, writhing vortex that began to consume everything in its path. Trees, rocks, and even the light from Brontes' lightning were drawn toward the swirling abyss.

Alex himself was confused, as while Brontes had unleashed Aetherstorm Genesis earlier, it didn't seem to quite match up with the description he'd been given by the System of its potential power.

Alex watched in horror as the vortex expanded, its pull threatening to engulf Brontes. He could feel Brontes' steady confidence through their bond, but the sheer scale of the devil's attack made Alex's chest tighten with fear.

'Is this devil really that strong?? Did I underestimate it even with its S tier power?'

Brontes planted his feet firmly, his massive claws digging into the earth. His mane surged with energy, the storm clouds around him thickening and crackling with golden lightning. He opened his jaws wide, and the air around him seemed to vibrate with a high-pitched hum.

'Wait, this gives me that same feeling… Is he unleashing Aetherstorm Genesis for real this time?'

Just as he thought, the skies overhead responded to Brontes' call. Thunder roared, and lightning split the heavens as a massive storm began to form. The swirling clouds above mirrored the devil's vortex below, but where the devil's abyss consumed, Brontes' storm radiated pure, unrelenting energy. The two forces clashed, with the ground beneath them trembling beneath the strain.

[Aetherstorm Genesis (Mythos+): The ability to summon and control storms of incomprehensible scale, infused with Aetherial energy. Your storms are not bound by any atmosphere or environment. They can exist in the vacuum of space, tearing apart fleets or altering planetary conditions. Their destructive power is unmatched, and their aetherial nature disrupts dimensional stability, prohibiting the use of any spatial or dimensional escape abilities within your range.]

Alex thought of the description of the talent he was currently witnessing be unleashed, and he couldn't help but feel like it was quite fitting for it.

Brontes unleashed the storm. Bolts of lightning rained down in rapid succession, each one striking the vortex with pinpoint precision. The golden arcs of energy clashed against the shadows, creating bursts of light and sound that lit up the battlefield. The vortex quickly began to falter, with its edges fraying under the relentless assault.

The devil roared in defiance, summoning more shadows to attack. But Brontes was relentless. He advanced step by step. Each bolt of lightning grew stronger, each strike even more precise than the last. The vortex shrank under the onslaught, with its dark energy unable to withstand the might of Brontes' storm.

Finally, Brontes reached the devil. With a roar that shook the heavens, he slammed his claws down into the ground, channelling energy into a final, devastating attack.

A massive bolt of lightning erupted from the skies, striking the devil down with blinding force. The impact flattened everything within a 10 kilometre radius, leaving a smoking crater where the devill stood.

As the dust settled, Bronts stood triumphant, with his mane still crackling with the lingering energy. The devil's form lay broken and battered, with its once mighty aura reduced to a faint, flickering shadow of its former self. It tried to rise, but Brontes lowered his foot, stepping on him and keeping him down with ease.

For a brief moment, Brontes allowed a fraction of his true aura to flare. The air grew heavy, and even Alex, far from the centre of the battle, felt the immense pressure unleashed by Brontes. The devil's body froze, with his eyes widening in terror.

"No…" it whispered, clearly trembling. "You're not… You can't be…"

Brontes didn't let him finish. With a simple swipe of his claw, much, much faster and stronger than any semblance of power he had unleashed throughout the entire fight, and separated the devil's head from his body.
