Chapter 130: Chapter 97: China Special Agent_2
Although the upgraded Drone’s strength had greatly increased, it still lacked Stealth Ability and could be detected by various radars, much to Yan Fei’s regret. He could only have the Drone fly at a low altitude, skimming the sea surface and using the radar’s detection blind spots to avoid being tracked. Due to this concern, he was temporarily unable to grant the Drone free flight at an altitude of thirty thousand meters.
Yan Fei continued to test the Drone’s various data points. With a thought, the Drone emitted a loud sonic boom and began flying at supersonic speeds. He saw the Drone flying close to the sea surface at high speed, leaving behind a huge white line on the surface following it. The Drone, moving at three times the speed of sound, appeared a kilometer away in an instant, more than three times faster than the Level 3 Drone.
Yan Fei reveled in the thrilling high-speed flight of the Drone when, with another thought, it showed exceptional maneuverability. In an instant, it went from high-speed flight to a stationary hover above the sea’s surface. Then, the Drone turned downwards and dove into the sea. As it submerged, its body began to morph from the aerodynamic layout best suited for aerial flight to the streamlined layout ideal for underwater navigation.
Once the Drone entered the water, all eleven weapon racks beneath it retracted into the drone’s body, and a Torpedo launcher appeared directly below. Inside this launcher was a torpedo, already primed for launch. This Torpedo was the underwater version of the AIM-120 Air-to-Air Missile, although its power was only 80% of the original.
The Drone sank to the sea floor and started scanning with its Quantum Radar, quickly locating a massive Reef. Yan Fei targeted the distant Reef and launched the Torpedo. Guided by the Quantum Radar, the Torpedo sped towards the Reef, leaving behind a long trail of bubbles.
Twenty seconds later, the Torpedo struck the Reef, releasing a muffled explosion that shattered it into several pieces. Yan Fei wasn’t entirely satisfied with the Torpedo’s attack power, but it was already a significant improvement over the previous limitations to using the Vulcan Gun for attacks. He tested again, and after using up eight Torpedoes, he finally obtained the Torpedo’s attack data: a maximum speed of 200 kilometers/hour, a maximum range of 5 kilometers, and a maximum attack depth of 400 meters.
The destructive power of this AIM-120 Air-to-Air Missile version of the underwater Torpedo wasn’t very significant; it wouldn’t even pass muster in the world rankings of Torpedoes. However, it represented a huge breakthrough considering the previous circumstances where the Drone could only attack with the Vulcan Gun underwater; the Drone now possessed the capability to attack in the deep sea.
After testing the Underwater Torpedoes system, Yan Fei began testing the Drone’s Vulcan Gun, only to be disappointed that its power hadn’t improved at all compared to before. However, now that he had Torpedoes suitable for actual combat, the shortcomings of the Vulcan Gun no longer weighed on his mind. Next, he began testing the Drone’s underwater stealth data. After half an hour, the stealth data were also summarized: a maximum dive depth of 600 meters, a top underwater speed of 200 kilometers, and a maximum Quantum Radar detection distance underwater of 150 kilometers.
Yan Fei regretted that during the tests, he had killed many large marine creatures, but still did not earn any Merit Points. In other words, marine life remained unable to provide Merit Points to the Drone, just as before. However, it didn’t matter; with the Level 4 Drone, there would be plenty of opportunities to earn Merit Points, and he believed it wouldn’t be slower than the upgrade pace of the Level 3 Drone.
When the Drone flew in the air, it was completely silent, not making any noise. However, once it submerged into the water, it began making sounds during its underwater journey. These sounds were not quiet and could be detected by various Sonar devices. The inability to remain stealthy underwater was an aspect of the Drone Yan Fei found regrettable, but the other formidable aspects of the Drone overshadowed this shortcoming.
After thoroughly testing the Level 4 Drone’s capabilities, Yan Fei had a deeper understanding of the Drone, which would help him maximize its combat power. Upon finishing the tests, the Drone ascended to the sea surface, turned around, and started heading back towards the vicinity of Tokyo Downtown. Flying close to the ground, it carefully avoided the military Radar of Japan and the US Forces. It was the dead of night, and no one noticed this massive creature skimming across the ground.
The Drone returned smoothly to the Mine cave where Yan Fei previously organized the Universal Space Items. It hovered at the entrance to the cave. Yan Fei jumped down from the Drone and entered the cave, finding his secret marks untouched, indicating that no one else had been there during that time. He entered deeper into the cave and started collecting the concealed Items into the Universal Space.
The upgraded Drone General Space had reached a volume of 1000 cubic meters, expanding the storage space tenfold. When he had stored everything back into the Universal Space, he found that the Items only occupied a small fraction of the available Space. With such a large capacity, it would greatly facilitate his future actions, providing him with a broader range of options.
After collecting the Items, Yan Fei carefully checked again, erasing any traces left in the cave. He had wanted to set the place on fire to completely destroy any remaining evidence, but the Gasoline stored in the Universal Space had been used up. He also considered using Explosives to blow up the cave, but that would create too much noise and could easily draw the attention of Japanese authorities, so he reluctantly abandoned the idea.
