Chapter 1424 Starting with the Truth

Chapter 1424 Starting with the Truth

Once the lid was opened, Prince Alaric straightened his back again.

He stood motionless, his shoulders slouched and his head tilted down, looking at the contents of the box.

Inside the box were the heads of multiple Werewolves, one of them he recognized instantly, the Beta he sent earlier to rally the remaining neutral Alpha Primes. Clearly, he was ambushed and killed, his head was now a message from the opposing side.

The killer didn't even have the decency to drain the blood out before putting the head into this box.

A disrespectful and savage act of war.

For a fleeting moment, sadness could be seen reflected in Prince Alaric's eyes but it quickly faded and was replaced by a resoluteness as he clenched his jaw hard. A bitter taste crept up his throat as his insides churned, the weight of his dread pressing down like a stone.

Prince Alaric's face twitched as the sensation built, threatening to drive him to the edge of nausea.

'So this is what our Origin felt whenever a royal dispute happened,' He thought, placing a hand on his stomach. Prince Alaric feared for his kingdom, for his people—as this could be the last chapter of their race. 'What's in your mind, Princess Selene? Do you not care if our kingdom survives or not?'

Just then, Prince Alaric's heart skipped a beat.

His eyes slightly widened when the Werewolves in his field of view were bowing down.

A few figures were standing behind him and from the way the other Werewolves reacted, he didn't need to guess who these figures were. Sucking in a cold breath, Prince Alaric pivoted around and saw Evelyn, Gistella, and also Rex standing behind him.

All three of them locked eyes with him, thoughts acing behind their gazes.

Evelyn was the one to break eye contact, she glanced at the wooden box before her face soured.

Seeing heads being delivered to the Mesa of Alphas, it was clear that the opposing side's answer was.

Reacting quickly, Prince Alaric snapped out of his trance and approached Rex.

He fought back the fear—knowing what was at stake, and spoke, "Emperor Rex, more than half of the Alpha Primes agreed for the Scarlet Banes Kingdom to be a part of the alliance. It's regretful that many still refused to take part but what's done is done, I won't hide behind excuses"

Continue your adventure with empire

Pausing for a second, Prince Alaric waited for Rex to answer.

But he remained silent, his eyes scrutinizing Prince Alaric as if considering something.

"I'm aware of what I said, I knew that I said Princess Selene wouldn't be a problem and I was wrong," Prince Alaric continued with a heavy heart. "My failure means the death of many but I once again, I'll shamelessly ask for you to spare those who are here and let the Werewolves live on"

Upon hearing this, the other Alpha Primes as well as the Werewolves around were shocked.

None of them knew about this at all.

It was common knowledge that Prince Alaric was aiming to unite the kingdom with the new Clarentium Empire, merging with the ranks of the Royal Black Prince. But most assumed that he was fearful—and being a coward, choosing to save himself from being targeted and killed.

Or at least that was what the opposing side sold to the masses.

Since Prince Alaric never denied that rumor, many considered it to be a fact.

However, they were proven wrong at this moment.

In truth, Prince Alaric was still fighting, he was doing the best he could to save the kingdom.

Seeing how he was even willing to set aside his pride—and shamelessly begged for Rex's consideration, it was clear that he had a deal with the Royal Black Prince to coax the other Alpha Primes without using violence, a chance to survive without bloodshed.

Any royal Werewolf has always been arrogant, no matter who they are.

Being the direct lineage from the Werewolf Origin, their bloodline's superiority was undeniable.

For Prince Alaric to set aside his pride like this was a very big deal.

Crash!

Just then, however, another Werewolf landed near them—coming down from the mesa.

He was a towering embodiment of primal strength, possessing no weaker presence than Prince Alaric.

Snow-white fur flowed like a silken mane, marred by jagged scars that spoke of countless battles. His glowing silver eyes burned with predatory intensity as he locked onto Prince Alaric, radiating an aura that demanded submission.

His clawed hands and powerful frame exuded lethal power.

Glowing cracks etched across his body hinted at an overwhelming, barely contained force.

Naturally, this Werewolf was an Alpha Prime—a dominant among beasts, born to stand at the peak.

He is Vorlak, the Alpha of the fourth strongest pack in the kingdom, the Silver Predator Pack.

"A deal…?" He mumbled, his eyes narrowing as he approached Prince Alaric from the side. "When did you make a deal with him?" Vorlak pointed at Rex, ignoring his manners completely. "Don't tell me, is it during Prince Leif's death? At the Bloodstone Crater? Does what happened there exactly as you said or did you lie to us?"

"Bloodstone Crater?"

"The Angels attacked the Bloodstone Crater, and the Royal Black Prince helped, no?"

"Is that not what happened?"

"If Prince Alaric made a deal with the Royal Black Prince there, did he get threatened?"

Many of the onlookers burst into a discussion, not knowing what to believe.

Prince Alaric has clarified to the masses that Prince Leif died while defending the Bloodstone Crater from the Angels who came to cause trouble. He also told that Rex, the Royal Black Prince who was also on the Angels, accidentally came across them and helped.

And with his help, Prince Alaric and also Princess Selene could defeat the Angels.

Of course, the Bloodstone Crater was devastated but the two royals survived.

"Answer me, Alaric," Vorlak pressed further, his aura began rising—the King Mark of the Wolf Moon appearing on his forehead, glowing along with its brilliant power. "Did the Angels really attack and destroy the Bloodstone Crater, or is it them?"

Observing the situation unfolded from the side, Evelyn and Gistella frowned.

Both of them could feel the tension rising in the area.

Some of the Werewolves were beginning to connect the dots as to what Vorlak was suspecting.

"Prepare to leave, this could end ugly," Evelyn whispered lightly.

Upon hearing this, Gistella nodded and challenged her moonlight energy inside—ready to make a move at a moment's notice. Along with Rex's clone, they could fight their way through these Werewolves and reach a safe distance to teleport away.

On the other hand, Prince Alaric exhaled lightly, "It's the Royal Black Prince who attacked us"

At that instant, Gistella wanted to move instantly.

However, Evelyn grabbed her hand—signaling for her to stop and wait for a bit more.

In her view, Prince Alaric must have a plan, or else he would be battling against the Clarentium Empire as well as Princess Selene's opposition. If that really happened, the Scarlet Banes Kingdom would no doubt cease to exist.

Many of the nearby forces would move too once they knew what was happening.

So Evelyn could tell that Prince Alaric must have a plan.

Kaboom!

In a sudden fit of rage, Vorlak's aura erupted, an overwhelming surge of sparkling blue energy spiraling skyward like a supernatural column. The sheer force pressed down on the gathered Werewolves, forcing them to their knees under its suffocating weight.

"So you mean to tell me…" His voice thundered, each word sharp as a blade. "He killed Prince Leif and also destroyed the Bloodstone Crater, the resting place of our Great Luna. And then, he went ahead to threaten you to make us join his empire now that Prince Leif is gone, and you agreed to it instead of fighting?!"

Vorlak couldn't believe what was happening.

He knew and respected Prince Alaric and yet the Werewolf he respected did this?

Unacceptable.

"You call yourself a Royal Werewolf, ALARIC?! YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A DISGRACE!" Vorlak shouted as his aura burst for the second time, cracking the earth beneath him as waves of blistering heat rippled outward. The air itself seemed to bow to his fury, trembling in deference to the fourth strongest.

Having enough of this farce, Prince Alaric's aura also exploded.

Despite the swelling anger that made Vorlak's power spike higher, Prince Alaric's aura overpowered him. It was true that Vorlak was strong but his bloodline was not of a royal, he wouldn't be able to have the edge against Prince Alaric.

Glancing at Vorlak sharply, Prince Alaric thundered back, "Prince Leif attacked without our consent!"

Upon hearing this, Vorlak tilted his head—confused.

"Prince Leif came up with the idea of taking out the Royal Black Prince without consulting with the Alpha Primes. He told the Dancing Stripe Pack to challenge the Silverstar Pack to lure the Royal Black Prince, utilizing the Honey Moon to ambush and kill him," Prince Alaric clarified.

If he didn't speak the truth now, the situation would become worse.

He didn't want to tell the truth as that would sully Prince Leif's name, who was now remembered as a hero—who stopped the Angels and protected the pride of the Werewolves. But he has no choice now, the truth must come out.

Albeit reluctant, not wanting to scar Prince Leif's image, there was no other choice.

Maintaining unwavering eye contact with Vorlak, his voice steady despite the weight of many watching eyes, he continued, "Prince Leif wanted to eliminate the Royal Black Prince because he felt threatened by his power. But the Royal Black Prince anticipated that, retaliated, and Prince Leif died. This conflict began with us, Vorlak…"

As he said that, Prince Alaric took a couple of steps toward Vorlak who was now silenced.

All of the fury from earlier began to disappear from Vorlak's system.

"I'm fighting with my all to keep us from being annihilated because of Prince Leif's mistake," Prince Alaric leaned forward and whispered. "If that made me a disgrace, fine, you can destroy my efforts as a disgrace now"

"The Royal Black Pince is right there," He nudged towards Rex. "Go on, attack him and end this"

Upon hearing this, Vorlak's gaze shifted towards Rex.

He stood motionless like a specter, his figure hidden by the Royal Black Cloak.

Just from the deadly glint in his crimson eyes, Vorlak knew that he had no chance against Rex. Tension builds in the air like static, the Werewolves around could feel that the air was becoming more choking by the second.

If Prince Leif lost then he would die in an instant.

Had Vorlak known that Rex had defeated not only Prince Leif at his full power but also possessed and transformed into the avatar of the Yule Moon, he would have understood that his chances weren't merely zero—they were less than that.

No one in the Scarlet Banes Kingdom could rival Rex's level of power.

Or at least at this moment, there was no such Werewolf.

Seeing that Vorlak's change was also influencing the entire onlookers, the pivot of the mass since he was the second strongest present right after Prince Alaric, Evelyn decided to step in, "Your Origin said that the strongest shall rule, the Royal Black Prince is the strongest Werewolf in this era. Going by what your Origin said, he should naturally be the ruler but we're not asking for that,"

"Our offer to Prince Alaric is this," Evelyn stepped forward, scanning her eyes around. "Join our alliance and let's work together to brace for the challenges in the future together. We don't ask for you to submit, you can still have your own ruler and your own way. All we ask is for you to come to our aid as we will come to your aid when a problem arises"

As she said that, Evelyn transformed into her Luna energy.

She now has the gentleness of a Luna as well as the charm of an Empress.

Evelyn became a figure that could sway the hearts of many.

"No need for bloodshed, the Emperor—and I came here first-hand to show that we are not hostile," She continued as a faint smirk climbed to her cherry lips, the dust of purple luna energy drizzled across her white dress. "Join us… Although I was born a Human, I can't deny that a part of me is a Werewolf. And having you with us will most certainly bring great joy to that part of me"
