The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 479 Her Disappearance

Chapter 479 Her Disappearance

(From Evan's Perspective)

The number of mages was almost frightening, but not impossible to defeat them. However, I was getting tired. I needed a little help and it would be easy. But Flint had gone to take Blue out. She was the priority. Even if Flint had been with me, even if we were winning, it would be of no use if someone went and captured her.

Who knew what they would do with her?

I could imagine the master of the magic tower plucking her beautiful blue eyes out for decoration. The thought sent shivers through my spine.

I held my hands forward, letting bursts of flame and black strings play in the air. They wrapped around the mages' bodies and strangled them. I broke into sweats. I did not lose concentration. I needed to defeat them. I knew I could.

'Just a little more. Just a little more,' I repeated in my head. 'Keep pushing further. You can do it.'

That was what I told myself on the battlefields as well. There was no one else to tell me to push myself. I had to do it myself.

That was when the ground shook. There was an explosion. Blue and the others were supposed to go through a hidden tunnel. I did not know about it and found out only after Perita told him. The explosion seemed to have taken place there.

'It's not enough. They still can follow.'

The next moment, for split second, I saw the boy who looked just like Blue. It was her brother Cyan. Cyan was fighting alongside him. He did not have much power, so I was supposed to tell him to back away. But the little power he had was used properly. I found out so just a few moments later.

Cyan threw a tiny object at the mages and motioned for me to make a run. No, he was telling me to jump out of the nearby window.

The tiny bottle exploded, and so did the area around them. The mansion was collapsing. Cyan had already jumped. I thought of Doctor Dimitri once and then jumped as well.

The mansion crumbled to dust, but he did not wait. Neither did Cyan. Cyan was smart and I liked how selfish, yet… What was he? I could not put it into words.

All the mages were not dead, but most of them were. The few who remained tried to fight, but could not and backed away. I had seen the master of the magic tower of Mazazine briefly, but then, he seemed to vanish.

"She is alive, it seems," Cyan said.

"She is," I muttered.

"Where is she?"

"I don't know," I said. When the sudden attack took place, I thought it was he who led them here. But then, why would he fight them?

"No, I did not do it," Cyan said as if he knew what I was thinking. "Every day, I came here in the morning to make sure the area was clear. Last night, when I was playing with Sapphire in the woods, Sapphire heard something and started meowing. You know, cats have this weird sense. So, I went to survey the area and saw a few mages.

I eavesdropped and found out they were from Mazazine and their team was going to attack the mansion at any moment to capture the Queen. The master of the magic tower wanted her for some reason."

'He wants her eyes, that sick son of a bitch!'

"They were to wait in the forest in case Blue tried to escape from there," he continued. "So, I came to the mansion as quickly as possible. I did not have enough potion to teleport all the way here. I had to run a long way. And I could not bring much of any of the potions either. I carried eight of them only."

"Eight?" I mumbled. Eight were more than anyone could bring at that time.

Hearing this, it kind of made sense. Cyan should not be the one to tell them. But he was suspicious for some reason, although it might just be my personal thought.

"Do you know where she is?" he asked.

"No. I have to look for her."

He stared at me for a while and then got up from the ground, wiping the dust off his shirt. "I will go back to Sapphire then, now that she is safe. It's a good thing I have taken Sapphire away."

"Blue did not like it."

"Who cares? Sapphire likes me," he shrugged.

"You actually care about your sister a lot, don't you?"

"Care?" he repeated, then let out a laugh. "I don't know what that means. I just want her alive so she can just yeet the child out of her and defeat Azure."

'Yeet the child out?'

"Whatever you say," I sighed.

"What about you? Why are you so adamant about saving her? Trust me, no smart man does that. She is no one to you."

No one? Was she no one to me?

Hilarious! No one? She was more than precious to me. She was my friend, my love, and… What more was she? She was the wife of another man. But I loved her.

And that was enough. I made a deal with her husband, but if I did not care for her, and did not love her, I would have left. I would never go this far.

"I care for her," I said. "She is my friend. I don't have many friends, but I care for those that I have."

"Not because of the deal?"

"Maybe a little," I said as I turned from him. "But deals are meant to be broken. And friendships are meant to be kept."

I knew where the tunnel led. I waited a little deep into the forest until Cyan left. Then, I made my way deeper into the forest. They were in there. My senses were quite high, so I would find them in no time if they did not teleport.

I did. I found the cave, but it was a mess, especially with Lady Ruby yelling and looking frantically for Blue, while Calix looked dumbfounded. Perita was not to be seen, but I found Flint cursing.

"Well, what a sight! Never thought I would walk to this," I said.

"You are alive?! She was… Her Highness was going crazy thinking you died!" Lady Ruby said.

"How unfortunate!" Flint said.

"You should at least hide your disappointment," I said. "Where is she?"

"We don't know! She was here! She was right beside me when I fell asleep! She was sleeping… And then, when Calix entered the cave, she was not here…!" Lady Ruby exclaimed. She looked like she was going crazy.
