Chapter 102 Reunion
Chapter 102 Reunion
It didn't take long for Xander and Sandra to see the burnt tree, exactly in the direction that they were pointed to.
"Seraph, stop us here," Xander said as he frowned.
"They could not be there," Sandra said with a tired sigh.
"I know, but those people at the border said my camp is one of the few that are still standing," Xander said. "If they're not there, then they'll be in the vast wilderness somewhere."
Seraph landed and crawled upon Xander's neck and stayed on his shoulder. Both of them got to a fence of trees, and then they reached a tree, and Dexter's eyes widened.
Far in the distance, where his village used to be, there was a large place, and people came in and out through a gate.
"What is this?" Xander said as he saw it.
"Is that a village?" Sandra asked with a frown as she looked at the soldiers at the gates, who held metallic swords in their hands, checking the people that came into the village.
"Someone else must have taken over," Xander said. Then a small lizard creature ran out of the forest into the wide, sandy area. Before they knew it, an arrow fell from the sky and pierced its head, killing it instantly.
"Sharp shooters in case of threats," Xander said as he looked closer at the large walls and saw people on top of what he suspected to be a fence.
"What do you think is going on down there?" Sandra asked.
"The person in charge probably developed the territory while you were gone. It now looks like some sort of fantasy city." A familiar voice came from the side, and Xander looked beside them to see Harry there, looking at the city ahead with a serious expression.
"Harry, when did you get here?" Xander asked, and Sandra looked to the side and was shocked as well to see Harry there.
"Oh, we've always been here," Harry said, and Hannah came out from the tall grass and waved at them. "Hey."
"Now, what I don't understand is, who is she? Did you pick her up because she looks like Sandra?" Harry asked, looking at Sandra, who stared at him with a bitter smile.
It couldn't possibly be her; after all, they watched the ghoulshippers' base reduce to nothing in that explosion.
"Actually, it's Sandra. She survived the explosion," Xander said, and Harry couldn't help but blink.
"Huh?" He looked at her carefully.
She did indeed look like Sandra, but since he saw her from the side, he deduced that it was just a lookalike that Xander used to replace her for now. After all, there was magic in this game-like world; it wasn't impossible.
"S-Sandra? But how?" Hannah walked towards Sandra and held her face.
"Well, it's a long story," Sandra smiled, and then she proceeded to tell Harry and Hannah the whole story.
They were stunned at that, and they wondered how strong the ghoulshippers would have to be to pull off that stunt.
They would have been established for a long time to have many bases. They didn't even know what exactly they were capable of, but one thing was for sure, they must have been formed for decades. Discover exclusive tales at empire
"Wait, wait... If you were taken to the ghoulshippers' base, then you should know where it is, right?" Harry said to Sandra, and Xander looked at her with wide eyes as his mind didn't even go to it.
"Ah, yes. That's why I searched for you guys within the game," Sandra said, and they all smiled at each other.
"Hahaha..." Xander laughed as he sat on the floor, and the dragon on his neck purred as it curled even more.
Xander held it in his arms, and it opened its eyes and frowned at him.
"And we were already giving up hope that we wouldn't be able to find the base in time," Xander said with a smile, and Harry too smiled.
"True that."
"Before we leave this world, why don't we get back at least one of our territories?" Xander said to them.
"You mean this one?" Hannah asked as she pointed at the city that was originally Xander's village.
"Yeah. What do you guys say?"
They all looked at themselves, and Harry shrugged as he stood up.
"Well, I'm in." Hannah was excited, and she got up, holding her magic staff.
"Me too," Sandra said with a smile.
It was nice to be with her friends now. At least one more adventure.
"Well, Seraph could fly us over the city, but to enjoy it fully calls for chaos," Xander smiled mischievously, and Harry looked at the little dragon on his lap.
"Is that a pet?" He asked, and Xander nodded.
"Enter your full form," Xander told the dragon through his mind, and it followed his words and jumped off his lap.
Clouds began to gather, and the little dragon's body had golden streaks of lightning running through it.
"What's going on?" Sandra asked as she looked up at the clouds.
"Is this normal?" Harry expressed his concern, and Xander nodded to them.
"It's how he transforms."
*BRRRR...!!!*
Lightning struck down on the little dragon, causing wind to blow them due to the resulting explosion.
As the dust settled, Harry looked up, and his eyes shone as he saw the large dragon above him.
Sandra and Hannah too had an expression of shock on their faces as they looked at the dragon that looked down towards them.
Its golden-colored eyes were piercing and sharp, and its wings were even wider than its own body, blocking sunlight from touching them.
"Wow. A real dragon." Harry couldn't help but be amazed.
To think that his buddy would be lucky enough to get a dragon as a pet.
Sandra, on the other hand, had already seen the dragon at the human kingdom before, and she smiled.
Hannah gulped as she was reminded of the manticore, which almost ended her and Xander's life. She shook her head and let out a breath before she managed to smile herself.
"Well, now, let's make a scene, shall we?" Xander smiled as he stood up and gazed at the village.
