Chapter 78 No hope.

The group got to the base after riding their aero-bikes for an hour and Xander couldn't speak at all for some reason making the rest of the group worried about him.

"Hey Xander you okay?" Harry asked, coming close to Xander and putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Psrtmz..."

Harry couldn't hear Xander's low words so he put his ear in front of Xander's lips and then...

"She's dead. I killed her. Sandra was in there. I killed her. She's dead. I killed her. Sandra is dead. I killed her..."

Hearing the rambling shocked Harry to the core as he stumbled backwards and fell on his buttocks in utter bewilderment.

"Sh... sh... she was with her dad." Harry stammered as the realization dawned on him.

Their friend was dead!

Hannah, seeing Harry fall backwards hurried to his side and bent down. "Are you okay? What happened? What did he say?"

She knew that for the calm and aggressive Harry to behave like that meant that the matter was serious and her curiosity couldn't settle until she knew what exactly happened.

"Sandra was in the base when the explosion went off."

To Hannah, Harry's words were like a nuclear bomb going off in her head as her legs got weakened and she immediatelyfell on her knees. She then remembered that Sandra and her dad went in together...

'A... And those group of people th... that escaped, th... they carried Sandra's father with them.' Hannah thought.

The conclusion was inevitable. Sandra was really dead!

'I was so focused on finding my mom because I thought that she was the one closest to me. She is but Sandra and I got close too.' He shut his eyes as he entered into his consciousness where he saw Asura looking at him, as if expecting his return.

"So–"

"Shut up. JUST SHUT UP!!" Xander shouted. "Tell me what the curse was about. I want to hear the whole story."

Seeing Xander stopped shivering and just stayed still Harry moved towards him and when he saw that Xander's eyes were closed a voice reached his ears.

"He's in his subconscious." Natasha said as she walked over to them.

She was sad for them but it's the life every apostle lives.

'They're just kids. But it is what it is. Yukimura lost more than just his wife.' Natasha thought and turned around and then began walking towards Yukimira who seemed to be staring at the floor with wide eyes.

'This must have reminded him of it.' Natasha thought as she held his arm. "You okay?"

He was jerked from his thoughts and turned to see Natasha's hand on his shoulder and her giving him a gentle smile.

"Of course I'm fine. I've dealt with it already."

"I know that what happened to the girl would have affected you. It probably brought back memories judging by your previous expression."

Yukimira let out a deep sigh and spoke in a calm tone. "You're talking like you didn't lose your entire family."

Natasha couldn't say anything after that and just smiled and looked at the three young adult's that were sad with a bit of semblance.

Xander was broken, tears flowed from Hannah's eyes, and Harry just sat at a corner, curled up.

"We have stopped them. The ghoulshippers have caused too much damage to the world. Now that they're gone we can finally rest."

Natasha nodded, agreeing with Yukimira's words.

That was the ghoulshippers base so it means that the ghoulshippers have all been destroyed.

Harry looked up at them. "I'm going home."

"I... I'll come with you." Hannah said and Harry nodded. He helped her to her feet as she could barely stand.

On a normal basis, he would think about how soft Hannah's body was to touch but he couldn't even think about it right now.

They defeated the ghoulshippers at the cost of what? Xander's mom, Sandra, and the rest of the humans down there who might be innocent.

"What do you say we report to Mr Ciel?" Natasha asked Yukimura.

"Sure."

Now Xander was left alone, sitting there, doing nothing, being enlightened in his subconsciousness.

"So you killed Buddha's lover who was the best friend of Horus, Athena, out of rage. And then Her father Zeus, Ra, and Buddha cursed you to always lose the person you care about the most." Xander summarized all he was told.

"Yes. That's what happened."

"How did... why did I get your power? Why didn't I get Zeus'... or even Osiris'?"

"Who knows." Asura shrugged. "Look, boy. I'm sorry for your loss but what's done is done. There's no way around it. She's dead." Asura said, trying to comfort Xander but he actually made Xander even more angry and he looked at Asura straight in the eye.

"I dare you to say that again." Xander balled his fists as his expression turned to one of pure rage and anger.

"Such a child. You can't do anything to me." Asura smirked as he waved his hand and before Xander knew it... he was back in the real world.

He looked up and saw people walk past him. Harry was nowhere to be found, Hannah was nowhere to be found, and it looks like Yukimira and Natasha left.

Xander went to see his dad and when he entered the office via the high-tech door, he saw that there were a lot of people inside who were laughing.

His father just sat at his seat, frowning while in deep thought.

"What's going on?" Xander said, alerting the people inside.

"Xander right? Join us celebrate we've finally defeated the ghoulshippers!" An old man said while jumping.

"What the hell are you talking about?!" Xander shouted in annoyance.

He interrogated some of the people at the base... this was just one of their bases, not the main one.

"Xander." Natasha and Yukimura too walked forward to hear what he was about to say and his father looked up to him.

The office quieted down immediately!

"The base was destroyed right?" His dad asked with a stern gaze.

"Yes and no. This is just one of their bases. They said that their main base is way bigger than this one." Xander said scanning the whole room.

"Ho–how do you know?" The old man shivered in fear. He was threatened with his daughter and that has kept him working to eliminate them so that his daughter can be safe.

"I interrogated them."

His dad pinched his nose bridge as he closed his eyes to meditate.

"Just a sub-base. They have more than one base."

Not just his dad but everyone in the room entered deep thought as they knew now that there was no hope anymore.
