Chapter 57 Master, were you spying on me
It had been three days since Saintess Selene fell asleep from Kent's gentle shoulder massage. It was a refreshing experience for her, as, despite not needing sleep like mortals, sleeping for so long was something she had never anticipated.
She had been sleeping for the past three days. That wouldn't have been possible, but thanks to Kent's gentle touches, he only woke up after 3 days of good sleep.
"Hmm... I have overslept," she muttered, immediately realizing she had indeed slept longer than expected.
She examined her body to ensure Kent had kept his word and had not done anything intrusive. Of course, it only took a few seconds for her to confirm her suspicions.
"I guess he has some dignity," she muttered before standing from the bed and walking toward the window. Find your next read on empire
The air carried the scent of pine and other fragrant plants and flowers that surrounded the mansion she was staying in.
"Huh..." Her expression suddenly shifted as she sensed something strong emanating from a part of the mansion. Quickly extending her senses, she located Kent practicing his sword techniques.
Sweat trickled down his body as he moved in graceful arcs, his sword slicing through the air with precision.
It had also been three days since Kent began training, and he had not taken a single day of rest. In fact, he seemed entirely absorbed in his practice, never once stopping to take a moment of rest or even drink water.
"How interesting," she murmured, her expression brightening.
She flew out of the window and landed 500 meters away from Kent. Hiding behind a tree, she began watching him up close.
Her gaze locked onto his every move, but soon, her eyes began to move to his shirtless body, now glistening with sweat.
This of course started to take her focus away from what she came there to do. Instead of analyzing his sword moves, she found herself distracted by Kent's incredibly refined physique.
However, her thoughts quickly shifted when she noticed something remarkable about his body.
"This... This... How is this possible? How has he already awakened a sword body?" Saintess Selene's mouth fell open in shock.
"Sword aura was normal. Sword intent was manageable, but this sword body... He hasn't even reached the Grandmaster stage yet." She was struggling to believe what she was seeing.
In her understanding, one could only awaken a sword body after becoming a Sword Saint. She herself had only recently achieved this and was still working toward the next stage.
Yet here was Kent—someone who had only begun wielding a sword a few weeks ago—already displaying something that defied all logic.
Scratch that. At his level, he shouldn't even have sword intent. And even if he did, it shouldn't have progressed to the enhanced stage. It was utterly inconceivable.
And now, a sword body? Her mind reeled. Her thoughts seemed to falter as she tried to process the impossibility of the situation.
In the short time she had known Kent, he had already managed to shock her countless times. Nothing about him seemed to follow the natural order of things.
"Just who is this young man?" she muttered, sneaking another glance at him. Kent, utterly absorbed in his training, remained oblivious to her presence. For another day, he continued his relentless practice, showing no signs of stopping.
Then, on the fifth day, he suddenly halted.
A smirk formed on his face as soon as he stopped. He smiled and then using the teleport skill, he moved away.
In the next instant, he was standing right in front of Saintess Selene, who was immediately startled and let out a small gasp of fright.
"Master, were you spying on me?" Kent asked with a small smile, his eyes meeting hers.
"Ahem... No... I was just observing your training. Good job with the training," she replied in an awkward tone, clearly trying to compose herself.
"Oh, really? Then maybe next time, you should come closer. Hiding behind a tree for two days makes you look like a creep," Kent said, his smile unwavering.
"I didn't want to disturb you, that's all," she retorted, unwilling to admit she had indeed been spying.
"I see. By the way, I'm now a Master Swordsman... cool, right?" Kent said, looking unusually cheerful for reasons she couldn't quite grasp.
It had been five days since he began his intense training. Out of the 10,002 sword moves he was tasked with mastering, he had only perfected 4,000 so far. Though he was far from meeting the Sword Tower's lofty standards, his progress was astounding.
"Congratulations on awakening a Sword Body, too," Saintess Selene said with a small smile, masking her lingering astonishment. Deep down, she could only hope for a future where she remained relevant in his life.
"I told you I was going to make you proud. This is just the tip of the iceberg," Kent said confidently, his smile widening as he brandished his sword.
"Look at this, Master," he added, swinging his sword in a fluid and precise motion.
As soon as he did, 36 glowing strings of sword qi materialized, slicing forward with incredible force. A nearby tree was instantly cut into 36 distinct pieces, each section falling with surgical precision.
"Wait... How are there 36 strings instead of 24?" Saintess Selene asked, her sharp gaze narrowing as she quickly analyzed the technique.
"It's 36 now, Master. I've evolved the skill," Kent replied with a small smile. "Cool, right?" he added.
"I don't get it. Skills cannot be evolved that easily. You have to learn them and understand the smallest details about them before you can even think of upgrading. So then, how did you do it?" she asked.
"That is my secret, Master. But don't worry, I will tell you everything soon. For now, just know that your new disciple is the real deal," Kent said.
He extended his hand and then his sword sheath began to move toward him. A second later, it flew into his hand.
As a soul item, it didn't matter where it was; as long as its master willed it, it would come.
"Unbelievable..." Saintess Selene, shaking her head. Once again, she chose to accept reality and move on.
"By the way, Master, how was your nap? Enjoyable?" Kent asked with a smile.
"I suppose," Saintess Selene muttered.
"Good to hear you liked it."
"I never said anything like that."
"You didn't have to say anything, Master. Your cheek is doing all the talking," Kent said with a sly grin.
Saintess Selene touched her cheeks with both hands before turning away. Her cheeks were turning red. Clearly, she was embarrassed.
She wanted to walk off, but Kent took her arm before she could.
"No need to be embarrassed, Master. It's only natural for a disciple to ensure their master is well cared for. So, whenever you need a massage, let me know. I'll ensure your body is always calm and healthy so you can teach me better."
They began walking back to the mansion, Kent's arm still around her. He was treating it so casually that he didn't notice the flustered expression on her cheeks.
Saintess Selene, now in a man's arms and surrounded by Kent's masculine scent, felt strange sensations coursing through her body—feelings she didn't understand.
Nevertheless, she didn't hate the feelings stirring within her, so she continued walking with him. The thought of letting go of his arm never crossed her mind.
Soon, they were back in the mansion, and Kent went to take his bath. A short while later, he decided to head out to the city to buy some more ingredients and, well...to go see a certain manager who had been expecting him for days now.
